- The Sacrament of Baptism
  
  The Sacrament of Baptism is the beginning of our new life in Christ. It is the only sacrament that is the same across Christian traditions. Before a Catholic can receive any other sacrament, they must first encounter the sanctifying Grace of baptism. Through this ritual, we are welcomed into the Church and our souls awakened in Christ.
- Preparation
  
  There is a baptismal preparation class for parents seeking baptism for their first child or for the first time for their families.
  
  Classes are scheduled upon request with sacrament preparation coordinator
  
  SJF does not require, but does offer godparent preparation classes for any new godparents. Interested Godparents are welcome at parent classes or on their own.
  
  Children under 18 are welcome to prepare for baptism anytime, if the child is over 7, preparation classwork and discussion includes both the parents and children themselves.

  Cost: Free. Suggested donation $25 to parish. It is also customary to provided an honorarium directly to the priest for $25-$100
