Sacrament of the Sick

The Sacrament of the sick, also known as anointing of the sick, offers an opportunity for Jesus, through the ministry of the priest, to touch the suffering and ill. In this sacrament, the hoped-for effect is that if it be God’s will, the person be physically healed of physical or mental illness. The primary effect is a spiritual healing by which the person being anointed receives the Holy Spirit’s gift of peace and courage.
